Flood Warning Returns – B1040 Closed @ Delph @ Mon 9:29am

Normally we who have subscribed to the Environment Agencies Flood Alert Scheme are notified whenever our area has issues….no such luck this morning….I checked the road (twice) as many had tried to go the ‘Back-Route’ to P’boro to find the road was blocked off.
The EA website is up-to-date….
The ‘Road Signage’ is correct and up-to-date…

B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene

Flooding is expected – immediate action required

The Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. The rising levels in the Wash resulted in the flooding of the B1040 road, which is likely to continue until at least Friday 3rd January. No further significant rainfall is forecast over the next few days. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. This message will be updated Tuesday 31st December, or as the situation changes.
