Remembrance Sunday – Eastrea & Whittlesey

As per my previous post…. I did take along our 97 year neighbour ‘John B’ who was born, schooled and worked in Ramsey, received his call up papers late in 1942 – After inital ‘Square Bashing’ he was assigned to the ‘Lincolnshire Regiment’ and was sent to North Africa/Tunis.
Some 18 months later whilst at the Battle of Anzio, he was hit by shrapnel and lost over half of his right arm.
John was discharged and found work in Peterborough…..where he worked until he was 65.
